Paint chip projects are so much fun and the best part is that the paint chips are free. I got mine at the Home Depot in various colors to create an ombre effect. If you are expecting a little one and are looking for a mobile for your nursery this DIY project is so simple and cheap and I continue to receive tons of compliments from family and friends who see the nursery. The total cost including the circle punch was only about 15$. With mobiles in baby boutiques and Etsy going for about 50$ + I’d say this is a pretty worthwhile DIY. It was completed in a couple days while watching TV 😉
Materials
- Embroidery hoop– purchased at Michaels for 2$
- 1 inch circle punch- I got mine at Michaels with a 50% off coupon
- Glue Dots
- Thread- you could also use string
- Paint chips in desired color
Instructions
- cut a few pieces of your string in desired length
- punch 2 of same color and attach to string with 1 glue dot in between the paint chip and thread. Continue until your thread is complete.
- Tie threads onto embroidery hoop.
- Attach 3 pieces to the top of your hoop at whatever length you want it to hang. Tie in knot/loop at top and screw into the ceiling.
TIP- the strings can get tangled very easy so best to lay each piece flat and out of the way until you are ready to tie them on and hang it.
